Loretta P. Wittmer

	Loretta P. Wittmer, age 82, of Pinckneyville, died Saturday, September 18, 2004 at 3:16 a.m. at the St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
	She was born on December 12, 1921 in Leitchfield, KY, a daughter of Joseph and Sadie (Carter) Probus.  She married Rev. John H. Wittmer on August 11, 1945 in Glendale, CA and he preceded her in death on May 14, 1985.  Loretta was a homemaker and a minister's wife and had been the secretary for the Nine Mile Baptist Association.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pinckneyville, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and was the director of the WMU.
	She is survived by her son: John H. Wittmer, Jr and wife Cathy of Pinckneyville, IL, one daughter: Debbie McConnell and husband Gary of Pinckneyville, IL, one brother:  Elmer Probus of Shepardsville, KY, three sisters:  her twin sister, Louetta Chester of Pinckneyville, Wilma Tilford of Leitchfield, KY, and Mary Scrogham of Muncie, IN, and five grandchildren:  Jennifer, Thomas, and Bethany McConnell and Elizabeth and Matthew Wittmer.
	She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter:  Rebecca Wittmer Carter, one grandson:  Robert Darin Carter, two brothers, and four sisters.
	Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, September 21, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church in Pinckneyville, with Reverend Jim Endsley officiating.  Interment was in the Mueller Hill Cemetery in Pinckneyville.
	Friends called at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., on Tuesday morning, from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m., and then at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
	Memorials may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Society.
